On April 2, 2013, Germany Jena analysis instrument co., LTD (Analytik Jena) announced the acquisition of senior US imaging company UVP and its wholly owned subsidiary-- European Ultra - Violet Products, this action aims to further expand business on life science product line, and strengthen business in the Americas.
The US company of UVP, mainly produce chemical luminescence gel imaging and fluorescence imaging, regular gel imaging and many other kinds of digital imaging system, which are widely used in proteomics, genomics, plant science, animal science and other fields. UVP has a fairly long history of Ultraviolet products since 1932, it has produced a series of laboratory equipment of ultraviolet imaging such as UV transilluminators, uv lamp, which are applied in scientific research, industry ,education. UVP laboratory products are mainly used in electrophoresis, transfer printing, hybridization and protein, etc. UVP headquarters is located in Upland, California, the United States, and employs 109 stuff .Revenue of last year is $17.2 million, about half of which is from North America. Ultra – Violet Products, the wholly owned subsidiary of UVP in Europe, is located in Cambridge, UK.
Jena company, was founded in 1990, formerly known as analysis instrument department of The Carl Zeiss (Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH) company, now has become one of the largest analysis instrument companies in Germany. Its life sciences business was launched into China in 2010, although business time is not long, but speed of development is very fast. UVP series products have been sold for more than ten years in China, and has long been preferred for Chinese user's trust and affection. However, prices of series product imported are too high and not all enterprises can bear them.
